Birthday Weekend in Vegas!

Jeff and I celebrated my 33rd Birthday in Las Vegas, Jeff booked us a suite at the Palazzo/Venetian (I found a deal for way less than what we paid here). We chose that hotel because I really love the food and shopping in that area, and we actually didn’t need our car or uber once! (which is what I love) I love to just chill with no schedule except where we are eating next, and this quick getaway was just that!

This was the view out of my room overlooking the main pool at the palazzo, it was gorgeous at night too! I didn’t know the palazzo was connected to the Venetian and you can go to all the pools when you book a room at either hotel, there are 10 pools to choose from which was nice when it was busy! Also we had resort credit which means you can eat at one of the many restaurants at the canal shoppes using that which was also great! I recommend the Gnocchi Sorrentina from Casanova

Day 1: Shopping + Pool

We checked in thurs afternoon, and I couldn’t wait to do some bday shopping at Zara… we don’t have one in UT so it is a staple when I visit LV! I got this cute watermelon tee and paired it with this skirt (its old, a favorite… and I will cry when it wears out) And of course my most favorite Nike shoe ever from Nordstrom. I used one of my little girls palm print Jujube minibe backpacks the entire trip since I wanted my DSLR camera but didn’t want it around my neck the whole day!

We ended the day at the pool on the 10th floor of the Venetian which stays open till 10. I forget that most LV resort pools close at 6-7 ish… to draw you in to gamble in the casinos. I am so glad the resort had one open. I needed a hot tub soak! And I got to wear my new seafolly one piece that I have been so excited about! (NOTE: This suit runs small, mine is a 10 when I usually wear a 4 or 6) And its great for busty peeps… a petite friend tried it on and said it didn’t work at all because she didn’t fill out the cups.

We were one of the few that were there and it was so relaxing and beautiful. Sculptures, gardens and fountains EVERYWHERE! Jeff had a lovely snooze and I read a book. Win-win.

Day 2: Breakfast+Pool+more shopping=heaven!

This is such a cool area kind of by the lobby, Jeff has stayed in this hotel twice and had no idea there’s and actual canal with singing gondoliers IN the hotel… so funny. We ate the breakfast buffet at grand luxe cafe… It was good, but I don’t feel like I ate enough to have it be worth the $20… again, we had resort credit so it was fine.

The next day we did some more shopping and swimming. I am telling you, we really took this vacation easy. My swim suit is from a new shop called Coconut Palms & Co. You can follow them on Insta here. And these are similar here and here that I mentioned in my post about my Swim 2017 Wishlist.

Here are some products I used at the pool that I love. The tinted lotion was great because I can get coverage from burns, but it also gives a little bit of color. I love Rapunzel of Sweden and I tried out their new leave-in conditioner to protect my hair from the chlorine. Loved it!

I did a little shopping spree and got two outfits I was loving. There are so many options in Vegas for shopping, it really was one of the big draws for a vacation there. So here is my second outfit from my spree.

It was such an awesome trip to have getaway for the weekend. I was still able to make it back by mother’s day and enjoy the day with my kids. I definitely had a great time at the Palazzo/Venitian and would recommend it especially if you are going to LV for some fun shopping.

How to Add Extensions

Hair extensions add volume and length to any amount of hair. I wanted to share some professional tips about putting them in so they look natural.

I love Rapunzel of Sweden extensions. You can shop their entire collection here.

Here is how I add my clip-in extensions. See my note at the bottom if you have shorter hair.

Because I have long hair, I start close to the nap of my neck. My goal is to create a weaved layering effect of the extensions, so I begin with the first clip in on the bottom left.

The next layer, I do on the bottom right, beginning the brick layer pattern. I want them to overlap to create a natural look.

I then go back to the left side and add them in again.

And then again on the right. I do a total of four layers of extensions, keeping to the back and alternating left back, right back, left back, right back.

I prefer to add all of my extensions in the back because it adds a lot of natural volume and length. I don’t like adding my extensions on the sides of my head, but you can do that as well.  If you add extensions on the sides, you will want to create a brick layer pattern when you add your extensions: one in the middle back, then one on the right side and one on the left side, and repeated with multiple extensions, as needed.

Tips for short hair: if your hair is shorter you will need to start adding your extensions up higher and not close to your neck. This will help your extensions look more natural.

If you have questions about extensions, put them in the comments!
